Meet Your Therapist!
Hi, I’m Jamara! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist, and a school counselor with a heart for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion, understanding, and hope. My background in school counseling gives me a unique perspective on emotional development and life transitions, and I blend that insight with evidence-based therapeutic approaches to create a supportive and meaningful counseling experience.
I knew I was called to be a counselor and therapist during one of the most tender seasons of my life, shortly after my grandmother passed away. One day while walking the track, praying, and sharing my heart with God and my husband, I felt a quiet but powerful whisper: “This is what I created you for… to listen, love, and guide.” In the midst of grief, purpose became clear.
Looking back, it makes perfect sense. My entire life, people have naturally opened up to me, strangers in grocery store lines, children and parents at the Boys & Girls Club, and loved ones during various moments. I often joke that it must be written on my forehead: “Tell me your story.” But I truly believe this is how God knit me together. Helping and walking alongside others is part of my DNA.
I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults who are navigating grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. I deeply believe in the power of grace, especially in life’s most difficult seasons. I desire to help others develop the tools, insight, and confidence needed to heal and thrive.
When I’m not counseling, I enjoy volunteering, playing video games, bowling, reading, and anything Spider-Man-related. Most of all, I cherish spending time with my family and friends, they are my greatest source of joy and grounding.
I am committed to creating a space where you feel safe, seen, and understood. Together, we will navigate the challenges you face, explore growth opportunities, and build the skills needed to move forward with strength and purpose.
Counseling isn’t just what I do… it’s who I am, and I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey.
